Most of us just don’t feel like cooking in the summertime heat. Sitting inside an air-conditioned restaurant and letting a talented team of cooks do the heavy lifting sounds like a much better plan. We’ve rounded up some new places to make reservations this month, as well as a new butcher shop should you opt to grill and keep your kitchen nice and cool.
True Food Kitchen
Co-created by wellness visionary Dr. Andrew Weil, the Arizona-born True Food Kitchen chain expanded to West Palm Beach. Dishes feature healthier alternatives like grass-fed beef and spaghetti squash versus pasta, not to mention loads of veggies. Pick up summer taco packs and meal prep kits, too. A Miami location opens next year.
Forte by Chef Adrianne Calvo
Chef Adrianne Calvo mines her Italian-American heritage by way of her Chicago upbringing for her latest eatery, Forte. She’s perfected classics from veal chops to spicy rigatoni to Roman carbonara. A stickler for authenticity, Calvo even imported a gelato machine from Italy. Needless to say, don’t skip a dish of the stuff.
Stuart’s Seaside Café offers several menus throughout the day. Choose breakfast items like avocado toast and Florentine omelets, while lunch covers all the standards (seafood baskets, fish tacos, burgers and other sandwiches). Smoked mahi fish dip and conch fritters are among bar bites. Memberships and beach chair and umbrella rentals are also available.
The owners of Fort Pierce’s Pickled & Co. reopened their other restaurant called Savor in Vero Beach. Though there are crossover dishes like shrimp and grits, Savor highlights oak wood fire-grilled proteins. Other hits are panko-crusted fried green tomatoes with chipotle aioli, rock shrimp gnocchi and five-cheese, truffle mac and cheese.
One of Fort Lauderdale’s hottest restaurants opened its first location out West. Patrons of Casa D’Angelo will find favorite menu items at its new Aspen location, but chef owner Angelo Elia also adds many exclusive dishes that celebrate regional ingredients from Colorado’s famous lamb and bison to a refreshing goat cheese sorbet.
Palm Beach Meats
There are grocery store meat counters, and then there are serious butcher shops. Palm Beach Meats falls into the latter category for its fine cuts like a bushu-gyu (samurai beef), Japanese A5 wagyu picanha. On weekends, its restaurant rotates a meat-centric menu of umami burgers, Pumphouse Roasters coffee-rubbed ribs and more.
