L.G.B.T.Q. Pride Month celebrations are taking place all over the U.S. throughout June. The month was chosen in honor of the Stonewall riots in New York in June 1969. A few Florida Pride parades and other events are scheduled at different times of the year, such as Miami Beach’s in April, but many wait for the official Pride Month. Here’s a roundup of special events to support the L.G.B.T.Q. community.

 

Fort Lauderdale

BYOBoat or board a charter for FLoatarama Flotilla on June 11. Decorated boats will travel from Esplanade Park along the New River and Intracoastal Waterway. The city’s Wilton Manors neighborhood hosts its annual Stonewall Pride Parade and Street Festival on June 19. NBC-6 Miami meteorologist Steve MacLaughlin serves as grand marshal for both.

Pop singer Marina and rapper Azealia Banks headline the two-day music festival at the RC Cola Plant.
