Spring holidays are here. The grocery store aisles are stacked with Easter candy and chocolate matzah, and kids are excited to dye eggs, get a visit from the Easter Bunny and find the afikomen during Passover seder. It’s time to dust off your Easter bonnet, perfect your brisket and reserve a table at the best brunch. Here are some ideas for Easter and Passover traditions, including those special to Florida. Multiple Easter egg hunts are happening around the Space Coast on April 8, from the Cocoa Beach Sports Complex’s early morning event to Romelia Farms Wildlife Preserve’s 10,000-egg extravaganza with four ticketed time slots, family activities and food trucks. Celebrate Easter on the beach at Brevard Humane Society’s 11th annual East Coast Dog Surfing Festival on April 9.

The “Royal Family” leads the 67th edition (April 8, from the Old Jail Museum to the Plaza de la Constitución) with a procession of floats, bands, drill teams, clowns, Easter bonnet-donning horses and the Easter Bunny. Easter Beach Run

Work off all those jelly beans and chocolate matzah and bunnies at Daytona Beach’s 54th annual Easter Beach Run, whose scenic course begins at Breakers Oceanfront Park. Choose from a 4-mile race or 2-mile fun run/walk, with a special seniors’ division and kids’ shorter race and dashes. A bit of trivia: Founded to occupy spring breakers, it’s Florida’s oldest consecutive footrace.

Part of the Space Coast, Daytona Beach is most famous for the Daytona International Speedway, home of NASCAR’s Daytona 500, as well as myriad events like Welcome to Rockville music festival.
