Behind the Mask
Several local fashion designers are lending a hand by manufacturing masks. Carolina K. partnered with its Mexican artisans and DesignLab Miami for cotton masks in fun prints and solids. Krelwear’s various styles come in its signature tropical knits in a range of colors. Both collections are sustainable for their zero waste materials. They’re also matching purchases with donations to front-line workers.
Gee Beauty suspended spa treatments, but its full product assortment for women and men is available through its online store. The owners are also hosting delightful, educational events on Instagram Live (@GeeBeauty). Watch healthy recipe demonstrations, beauty regimen tips and personal appearances with skin-care brand founders like Sunday Riley on April 17 at 11 a.m.
Earth Day celebrates its 50th anniversary on April 22. The University of Miami launches its inaugural, virtual Earth Week, a platform for workshops and talks that are open to the public, from April 18-24. Log on to Zoom to learn about sustainability, ocean pollution, climate change, plant-based diets and more topics. See the schedule here.
