Coconut Grove’s Baleen has resurfaced as BALEENkitchen at Solé on the Ocean resort in Sunny Isles. It’s still run by Noble House, an upscale hospitality brand whose properties include Little Palm Island Resort & Spa in the Florida Keys. Patrons of the latter will be happy to know that chef Adam Votaw relocated to the mainland for the seafood and local produce concept. Named for the baleen whale, the restaurant tries to keep up with the nomadic creature’s global migrations. A few dishes are lobster sliders, conch chowder and miso-glazed mahi mahi. Dupoux Design’s Caribbean-inspired interiors and terrace with Victorian Key West and marine motifs link to dishes. If the setting feels familiar, the firm designed Seaspice and River Yacht Club. The oceanside addition officially opens August 8.

Pulse Art Fair, a satellite fair during December’s Miami art week, launched Pulse360. The invite-only membership service curates cultural experiences in major cities for collectors and other art cheerleaders. Its in-depth tour of two new exhibits at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami happens on August 17. Courtney Casci, the museum’s director of development, will highlight works by Sondra Perry, a New Jersey native who explores black history, technology and identity; and Louise Bourgeois, the late French artist who had a major show here in 2005 when the ICA was MOCA, North Miami. Perry’s “Typhoon coming on” (pictured) builds on J.M.W. Turner’s 1840 painting The Slave Ship through computer animated waves and sound. Bourgeois repurposed a pink fur coat for head sculptures depicting her various emotions.

In the depth of summer, no one wants to be stuck in a kitchen. Take the family to 1000 North on Jupiter Inlet for its new summer social hour hosted from 3 to 6 p.m. on Monday through Friday. Skip sweating over the grill and bite into their prime burgers with Grafton Village cheddar cheese and rémoulade sauce. Start with a dozen East Coast oysters with a seasonally befitting watermelon mignonette, or a chips and dip platter of smoked kingfish, fingerling potato crisps and vegetables. Held in the waterfront eatery’s Tavern on the Terrace, the social hour also features drink specials for draft beer, wine and signature cocktails. Summer’s slower months allow time for personal growth. Miami Beach Botanical Garden hosts complimentary seminars on second Saturdays including “Medicinal Uses of South Florida Plants” on August 11. Clinical herbalist Kilu Horecki shares his specialties of Chinese medicine, Ayurveda and western herbalism with native plants like saw palmetto, partridge berry and elderberry. Try a new workout. Faena Hotel’s Tierra Santa Healing House offers cardio kickboxing on Thursdays and Saturdays as well as tai chi on Fridays and Saturdays. Trainer Roel Rivas leads both hour-long classes. If you’re really in an exercise slump, Equinox Brickell instructor Gigi Stoot, pictured, will get you moving (and smiling) at her Saturday afternoon dance parties. Her exclusive blend of hip hop, modern and Latin dance has created a cult following—so arrive early.
