Art Basel’s Switzerland fair in June was a tremendous success. Some 70,000 attendees flocked to view works at 289 exhibitors. Highlights ranged from the $40-million sale of Louise Bourgeois’ Spider, to Jeff Koons’s Moon Phases NFT series at $2 million apiece, to Chance the Rapper’s premiere of his music video with art by Yannis Davy Guibinga. Timed for “Confrontation: Keith Haring and Pierre Alechinsky,” an exhibit that compares the two 20th-century artists through October 2, NSU Art Museum hosts a Pride Month lecture on June 26. “A Sense of Pride” dives into the late Haring’s world of 1980s New York regarding art, nightlife and his gay rights activism.
