The Scoop | Week of June 29

My, how time flies. The Fourth of July is already here, ushering in the summer months and everything there is to savor here in South Florida from ripe mangoes fresh off the tree to lazy days reading by the pool. Here’s a look at what to wear, eat and do during this festive week. Happy Independence Day!

Lele Sadoughi

Headband highness Lele Sadoughi’s Americana styles work for any setting this weekend and are sure to put a smile on many faces. Having risen through the ranks at J. Crew and Tory Burch, the accessories mastermind also unveiled a Lilly Pulitzer collaboration, neoprene headbands in colors galore and mermaid-minded pieces encrusted with shells.

Fancy Fireworks

The city of Fort Lauderdale is going all out with its “4th of July Spectacular.” The complimentary, family-friendly, all-day event at A1A and Las Olas Boulevard culminates with a Beach Boys concert and fireworks extravaganza. Stuart’s Flagler Park hosts the Treasure Coast’s largest display, “Fireworks on the 4th—Red, White & Boom!” |

Fourth Festivities

Many other celebrations are planned. Fairchild Garden’s daytime event features a kids’ parade with face painting, a brass band, festive accessories and popsicles, followed by a barbecue lunch. Vero Beach’s “Boom on the Lagoon” begins at 5 p.m. at Riverside Park. Prior to fireworks, activities include children’s games, music and food trucks. |

The Bath Club

Miami Beach’s historic Bath Club reopened after an $8 million makeover. Memberships are going fast for the area’s only private club with beach amenities (not to mention restaurants, a pool and cool programming for the whole family). Its Fourth of July barbecue with games and music will be held al fresco.

Drinking Pig BBQ

Overlook Drinking Pig BBQ’s unappetizing name for some of the tastiest smoked meats and sides this far south. Two Kyu restaurant alums run the weekend pop up in the front yard of one of their homes (845 NE 151 Street, Miami). Order delivery and pickup via Instagram. For catering, contact

Canadian swimwear darling Shan opened its largest U.S. location in Palm Beach. Though famous for women’s suits, coverups, athleisure and ready to wear, some shoppers might not be familiar with its full men’s line.
