#MarketWatchMonday South Florida has had one of the most rapid increases in real estate development over the last decade, but it has not been enough to alleviate the area's chronic housing crisis. According to new statistics, the tri-county area ranks ninth out of 50 metropolitan areas in terms of development. Storage Cafe, a division of Yardi Matrix that analyzes commercial real estate data, examined the number of permits issued for single-family homes, multi-residential units, and the combined square footage for office, industrial, and retail space between 2012 and 2021 to rank how active various areas were in developing more housing units.
