The Scoop | Week of November 14th

JILL PENMAN November 16, 2023

If you’re looking for a winter getaway, you’re in the right place. Please enjoy a curated selection of recently opened and revamped luxury resorts from ONE Sotheby’s International Realty. Our travel tips span tropical islands, the Sonoran Desert, the Hudson Valley and many newcomers throughout Mexico for a range of experiences. They’re all so wonderful that you may want to visit each and every one.

Soho House Mexico City

Soho House’s inaugural Latin American property occupies a former private residence with baroque architecture in the Colonia Juárez neighborhood. Club members can dine in the glass-enclosed Pool House, sample tequila in the wine cellar-turned-vinyl listening room, and swim in the 19-meter outdoor pool, the brand’s largest pool in the Americas. An extensive art collection highlights artists with ties to Mexico.

Hudson Valley

For a winter wonderland, visit the 140-acre Wildflower Farms, Auberge Resorts Collection in the Hudson Valley. Stay in cozy cabins and Ridge Line suites with fireplaces and private hot tubs, sip hot toddies around The Great Porch’s fire pit and book a spa service at Thistle. Celebrate the holidays with festive dinners and experiences like the apple cider doughnut workshop and New Year’s intention hike.

Arizona Additions

After launching 150 restaurants nationwide including in Florida, Sam Fox is trying his hand at hotels. Naturally, the James Beard nominee’s Global Ambassador offers dining galore such as Mediterranean-themed, rooftop théa and members-only The Grill. The iconic Arizona Biltmore’s full makeover introduced holistic Tierra Luna Spa and Sol Garden and revamped standalone cottages to pools—Paradise with a triple-twist water slide and adult-only Saguaro.

The Big Island

Located on Hawaii’s Big Island, celebrity stomping ground Kona Village recently reopened as a Rosewood Resort. The rustic, Sixties-era property has been significantly spiffed up from 150 bungalows’ soaking tubs, private lanais and outdoor showers to Rosewood’s first Asaya Spa in the U.S., perched above a lava flow overlooking Hualālai volcano, no less. Cycling, Hawaiian cultural classes, paddling and pickleball further await.

Bahamas Bound

Atlantis Paradise Island celebrates its 25th anniversary by upgrading its casino, the Royal’s accommodations and restaurant roster with a who’s who of Michelin-starred and James Beard-awarded chefs. Dine at concepts by José Andrés (Fish), Nobu Matsuhisa (Nobu), Michael White (Paranza), Alon Shaya (Silan) and Danny Meyer (Shake Shack), while attending events from a Christmas Carnival to concerts by Lionel Richie, Sheryl Crow and Maroon 5.

Four Seasons: Mexico

Four Seasons is having a Mexican moment. Recent openings on Mexico’s Pacific coast include the 157-room Four Seasons Resort Tamarindo with vast jungle acreage, three swimmable beaches and a David Fleming-designed golf course; and Naviva, A Four Seasons Resort, Punta Mita’s addition of an adult-only, glamping concept, whose luxurious tents feature private plunge pools. Four Seasons Cabo San Lucas at Cabo Del Sol opens soon.
