Since spring break is such a big part of Florida culture, we’re devoting back-to-back Scoops to the annual, sun-seeking ritual. Many of our clients and colleagues prefer to hit the ski slopes on their vacations this time of year, but we’re going all in on tropical themes like beaches, pool-proud resorts, glam swimwear and everything else you need for the perfect spring break experience. In Part II, we continue with new resorts in beachy locales. Bon voyage.
1 Hotel Hanalei Bay
Since its South Beach debut in 2015, 1 Hotels has expanded its luxury meets wellness and sustainability brand worldwide. Fans can now stay at its first property in Hawaii, 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay in Kauai. Repurposing the site’s natural teak, lava stone and quartz, its design seamlessly blends with the island’s verdant landscape. Abundant activities and local fare complete the wellness utopia.
The St. Regis Kanai Resort, Riviera Maya
Nestled next to Mexico’s 620-acre UNESCO World Heritage Site Sian Ka’an Reserve, the St. Regis Kanai Resort, Riviera Maya leaves a light footprint as not to compete with Mother Nature. The architects looked to the constellation Pleiades for its curved, minimal layout with maximum ocean views. Guests are further spoiled with eight dining destinations and a two-mile stretch of white sand beach.
With the Lucie, Opal Collection upgraded and rebranded an existing hotel in Jensen Beach’s Hutchinson Island. Its oceanfront location, chic pool and serene pale blue and crisp white palette denote “beach holiday.” The hospitality group has been busy around Florida; it also added the Atlantic Suites on the Avenue (Delray Beach), Reefhouse Resort (Key Largo) and the Capri Inn (Naples).
Kempinski Hotel Cancun
Less than a half hour drive from Cancun International Airport, Kempinski Hotel Cancun’s inaugural property in Mexico occupies a former Ritz-Carlton. The über-luxe European brand, which recently celebrated its 125th anniversary, imports its five-star service for guests of 363 seaside rooms. An exclusive beach and five-diamond AAA eateries blend with Old World touches (high tea, Lady in Red brand ambassadors).
Margaritaville Beach Resort Ambergris Caye, Belize
Pack your snorkel gear for Margaritaville Beach Resort Ambergris Caye, Belize located alongside the world’s second largest coral reef at 190 miles long. That’s just one surprising detail at the sustainable, family-friendly resort accessed by a private boat. Upon arrival, enjoy Victorian charm, lagoon-inspired pools and four categories of 55 suites. Obviously, there’s lots of live music too.
Vive La Villa
Whether family vacations or girlfriend getaways, resorts’ new villa accommodations deliver a premier experience. Home and design destination Serena & Lily redecorated PGA National Resort’s 21 spacious cottages with two bedrooms and two baths. Part of Blue Safari Seychelles, Alphonse Island unveiled a handful of one-bedroom beach villas with infinity pools, terraces, marine-inspired colors, outdoor showers and ocean views.
