The Scoop | Week of December 19th

For many Floridians, the holidays mean a ski trip to Aspen Snowmass. Though many of us have our beloved traditions and favorite places, it’s always fun and exciting to check out new additions for season. Please enjoy our guide for the latest hotels, restaurants, shops, wellness and culture to make the most of your experience. Safe travels and happy holidays.

Mollie Aspen

Launching on December 22, Mollie Aspen’s 68-room boutique hotel overlooks Aspen Mountain and Paepcke Park. Décor blends Japanese and Scandinavian influences with cozy craftsmen touches for a restful oasis after a long day of hitting the slopes. Relax sore muscles with the rooftop spa pool and boozy concoctions by its food and beverage partner, the same creative folks behind New York’s Death & Co.

Dining Around

In addition to Barclay Dodge’s Michelin-starred Bosq, drink and dine at these new establishments. Architect Michael Hsu designed the new outpost of Austin’s sway Modern Thai. Unlike its Florida implications, The Boat Tow simply offers a great après-ski scene. Warm the belly with Jimoto Aspen’s ramen and soup dumplings, The Crepe Shack’s namesake dish at its new Aspen location, and Planet Barbecue’s Snowmass pop up. | | | |

Aspen Ski Company

Access Aspen Mountain’s 153-acre expansion via the Silver Queen Gondola to the new Hero’s chairlift. Note the northeast-facing area above 10,000 feet is for expert skiers only. Aspen Gondola Plaza’s AspenX shop opened a second location in Snowmass Base Village for Aether’s ski apparel collaboration, equipment rentals including Black Crows skis, and lifestyle and café items. Swiss artist Claudia Comte’s work adorns 2023/24 lift tickets. |

Sotheby’s Aspen

Sotheby’s Aspen has a case of the winter blues in a good way. On view from December 21 to February 11, its group show “This is the Color of My Dreams” is selling artworks in various shades of the hue as homage to Joan Miro’s eponymous painting. Who wouldn’t want to find a David Hockney, Alexander Calder or Jonas Wood under the tree?

A sense of calm washes over shoppers at Bottega Veneta’s new boutique. MaxMara’s Hotel Jerome pop-up is back through January 6; try out your new Teddy coat and mittens around its fire pit. Find Stone Island’s exclusive capsule collection at its shop in shop in Kith’s store through February 10. Head to Revolve and its fancier FWRD’s pop up for festive attire through March 17. | | |

Spa Day

Leave it to The Little Nell to unveil a ski-in/ski-out concept at its newly renovated spa with amenities like infrared saunas and services featuring skin care by ISUN, Dr. Barbara Sturm and Seed to Skin Tuscany. The St. Regis Aspen snags the U.S. foray of Thailand’s RAKxa Wellness Spa. Knockout Beauty sets up shop in 02 Aspen for its curated brands and signature facials. | |
